Top 10 Special Custom Sneaker Releases Unveiled via Instagram This Week

1. Chad Cantcolor Jordan Romaleos 3

Chad Cantcolor selects Nike’s weightlifting Romaleos 3 silhouette and ups its style factor by applying the signature elephant print from the Air Jordan 3. The striking print in tandem with the white Swoosh do well to accentuate the shoe’s all-black base. A playful jab at his own name, Chad goes on to display his clean freehand painting skills. 2. MelonKicks SneakerStudio adidas HARDEN Vol.1 WarBird

Throwing it back to old school planes of the war-torn past is MelonKicks SneakerStudio with the adidas HARDEN Vol.1 WarBird. While James Harden’s signature shoe sports a stark white front area, MelonKicks transformed the clean canvas into a bold graphic — jagged teeth and all — reminiscent of the nostalgic fighter planes. 3. Donnell McFadden Brooks Y-3 Qasa x VLONE

A project that combines the Y-3 Qasa High along with elements that pay homage to A$AP Bari and his VLONE imprint, Donnell McFadden Brooks assembles a shoe that is as eclectic as is impactful. A silhouette many consider eccentric in its own right, the orange-hued highlights landing on the sole and straps seem to only enhance Yohji Yamamoto’s signature sneaker. Via: @jordans_dad_.

4. JBF Customs KD9 Blue Python

Kevin Durant’s KD9 is yet another model making our list for the first time. Applying a premium luxury upgrade to these low top Zoom kicks, is the tumbled off-white leather finding its way onto the frontside upper and heel with the statement blue python leather seen here on the rear. Completing the mock-up is the clean white sole unit with the tinges of red peaking out from the air cushion. Via:@jbfcustoms.

5. TRAGIK MCMXCIII atmos Huarache

Surrounding the hype that has ensued following the lead-up and launch of the Nike Air Max 1 “atmos Elephant,” TRAGIK MCMXCIII found it a fitting moment to throwback to his custom atmos Huarache’s. It sports the familiar teal, white and black color combination, trademark elephant print on the toecap, as well as on the side panel. Via: @tragik1993.

6. True Blue Customs KAWS x SF-AF1

One of the more artistic reworks we’ve seen to date is this KAWS x Nike SF-AF1 hybrid courtesy of True Blue Customs. This timely masterpiece features the Special Field Air Force 1 silhouette but also incorporates decorative accents made popular by none other than the Brooklyn-based artist KAWS. His infamous Dissected Companion figure is applied to the outer heal while renderings from his “No Reply” set land on the inner heals. Via: @truebluecustoms.

7. The Shoe Surgeon Air Jordan 1 Field Boot

Gracing our list yet again is The Shoe Surgeon with his take on a Nike SF-AF1 x Air Jordan 1 hybrid. Utilizing the lower half of the AJ1 model, the upper portion takes on the characteristics of the Special Field Air Force 1 Boot, creating a rugged yet streamlined lifestyle option. Complementing its somber jet black finish is the subtle trace of brown hitting the outsole. Via: @theshoesurgeon.

8. Garrett Moon VLONE x YEEZY BOOST 350

The second custom rework to feature Young Lord’s VLONE imprint is this YEEZY BOOST 350 creation. Artist Garrett Moon from Moonwalker Customs opts for a triple black pair of 350s and applies splashes of orange. VLONE’s signature “FRIENDS” tag finds its way onto the side panel streak, while the brand logo sits squarely on the tongue. Via: @garrett_moon17.

9. Donnell McFadden Brooks Keith Haring 750

Showcasing his work earlier, we turn the spotlight once again to Donnell McFadden Brooks with these imaginative YEEZY BOOST 750 customs. Honoring the work of the late, great Keith Haring, the hi-top BOOSTs take on the revered artist’s graffiti-style caricatures along the front strap, toecaps and along the rear. Via:@jordans_dad_.

10. Kenneth Cole Customs “Paul Walker” Air Max 90

Paying homage to Paul Walker and The Fast and the Furiousfranchise is this racing-inspired design from Kenneth Cole Customs. Playing into the Air Max hysteria leading up to the much-anticipated Air Max Day, we see this AM90 iteration take on design elements from the Nissan GT-R racer used in the film series. Mimicking the same color scheme as the car, the shoe takes on a deep blue base with black accents landing on the topside upper, heel and side panel branding. Via: @kennethcolecustoms.
